Susannah grew up in Philadelphia and moved to California in junior high school. She attended UC Berkeley as an undergraduate but had wanted to return to the east coast almost as soon as she landed in Los Angeles. These days, with family on both coasts and in Texas (relatively close to the Gulf), she considers herself a tricoastal native.
Before coming to upstate New York for a position at Skidmore, Susannah taught in Ohio and in Queens, New York. After extended periods in France and Italy, she now lives with scrappy terrier Jack, a Golden-lab mix named Sophie, and a Maine Coon cat now protesting the addition of a new dog. Current bingeable obsessions include the football feel-good Ted Lasso and any murder mystery series, TV or print. She’s learning to play classical guitar and if anyone asks, “rock star” was always the back-up plan if academia didn’t pan out.
